Therese

Oh, the People You Meet!

I Love You Jesus

It’s 11:00 p.m., and you’d expect an 83-year-old retired priest to be tucked up in bed – unless that priest is Father Ed Nadolny.

Father Ed is probably having a lively phone conversation with a complete stranger, one of the countless souls who call him after seeing his “I LOVE YOU JESUS” billboards scattered along the Connecticut highways like beacons of hope. Along with this outspoken message of faith, Father lists his own personal cell phone number.

Why Didn't You Spare Me?

"Did you ever see the movie Animal House? Well, that was the story of my college career."

That's how Father Brian Hurley began his story when I asked him how our live drama Thérèse had touched him. Sure, he had been brought up Catholic, but as a young adult he wasn't practicing faithfully. He graduated from college and went to work in the auto industry. Little by little, he began to take his faith more seriously.

Saints Zélie & Louis - They're really like you and me.

When you think of the parents of Saint Thérèse, you picture perfect, pious people, right? After all, it would take flawless parents to produce Saint Thérèse, a Doctor of the Church.

But consider these points:

Zélie was a workaholic. She had her own lace-making business and was pulled in a million directions, with work, family and community vying for her time.

Louis developed Alzheimer's and had to spend time in a mental institution. He ran away one time, and had to be confined.

Acting like Therese--An Interview with Audrey Ahern

Has playing St. Thérèse changed you?
Absolutely! This role has brought me closer to Christ – I feel Him at work in my life in a way that I have not experienced before. I have to ask myself daily, "Am I living up to the example that Thérèse set?" I really feel I have a friend in Heaven watching out for me.

Performing for the Sisters

Performing for the Sisters
By Audrey Ahern

Thanks to the generosity of several donors, Saint Luke Productions was able to present Therese to several religious communities across the US during the last season. These performances were among the most fulfilling spiritual and professional experiences I have ever had. Dominique, my stage manager and I did not simply perform for these women. We also stayed with them, ate with them, and, of course, prayed with them. We witnessed the joy and peace that were evident in their eyes, their voices, and their ready laughter.
