Stage Manager for National Tour of Tolton: From Slave to Priest

We are seeking a motivated young man with a passion for evangelization through media and the arts, great people skills and audio and video engineering experience to travel the country with Tolton: From Slave to Priest (https://www2.stlukeproductions.com/dramas/tolton), the powerful story of the America’s first Black priest, performed by actor Jim Coleman (http://www.jimcolemanactor.com/). Since its opening in 2017, this show has been seen by more than 30,000 people all over the country and has had a healing impact on race relations in the Catholic Church and society.

This live, one-person, multimedia production includes automated lighting, sound and a video screen projection of a large cast of characters, who interact with the live actor on stage.  A beautiful original score, based on traditional African American spirituals, enhances the piece. 

Tours generally last about a week and occur twice a month.  This position would involve relocating to the Portland, OR area, where non-touring duties would include creative audio and video projects in our studio.  Please explore our website stlukeproductions.com to learn more about what we do. 

Duties will include:

  • Traveling with the male actor on tour to run lights, sound and video for live drama performances.
  • Coordinating volunteers for set up and tear down at each performance venue.
  • Maintaining equipment between tours.

Qualifications:

  • Highly motivated to promote the Catholic mission of Saint Luke Productions
  • Great people skills
  • Audio engineering skills a plus
  • Knowledge of Logic Pro a plus
  • A/V experience at live events a plus
  • Positive, upbeat and energetic attitude
  • Willingness and ability to travel
  • Ability to handle a high volume of physical activity, and to lift over 50 pounds.
